TG18c 1:24 Scale Crew Figure – British Steam Tug CANNING

This kneeling crew figure is a perfect addition to 1:24 scale British steam tugs, bringing an extra layer of realism to deck scenes. Dressed in modern work clothes and wearing a woolen hat, he is captured in a natural working pose, kneeling as he handles equipment. His practical attire and focused posture make him ideal for placement on deck, engaged in maintenance or handling mooring lines.

Designed to complement models of the CANNING, this figure fits seamlessly into the world of late-era British steam tugs. Built in Yorkshire on the Humber by Cochranes for the Alexandra Towing Co. of Liverpool in the late 1950s, the single-screw CANNING was often mistakenly referred to as the last British steam tug. While this title actually belongs to a later-built vessel from the 1970s, Canning represents the end of the steam era, bridging the transition to modern diesel tugs.

With her modern-style wheelhouse and bridge wings, the CANNING’s design influenced diesel tug development throughout the 1960s and 70s. Unlike many of her contemporaries that were scrapped or sold abroad, Canning was preserved at the Swansea Maritime Museum, where she remains on permanent display.

This detailed crew figure enhances the authenticity of any model featuring the Canning or similar steam tugs, adding life and storytelling to historical working boats from the mid-20th century.

The figure corresponds to a specific scale measurement; for example, a 6-foot man will be accurately represented at the appropriate scale. Expect slight variations across different figures, which add unique character to your model.
