The SA86 Hand-Held Carbide Lamp is a finely detailed scale model accessory, designed to add realism and character to RC boats, working vessels, industrial dioramas, and historical scenes.
Carbide lamps, also known as acetylene lamps, became widely used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They worked by combining calcium carbide with water, producing acetylene gas that was ignited at the burner to create a bright, steady flame. Their portability and strong light made them popular for miners, railway workers, and seamen, especially before the advent of reliable electric lamps.
On ships, carbide lamps were often kept as emergency or work lights, useful in poorly lit holds, dockyards, and engine rooms. They were also adopted by rescue services, early automobiles, and even bicycles and motorcycles before electric headlights became common.

The Jager Hobby Scale Accessories are accurately scaled to match real-world proportions, ensuring they integrate seamlessly with model boats, cars, trucks, and dioramas. Unlike standard figures with fixed heights, our accessories are modelled to actual scale size, meaning a small sack in 1:14 scale (130mm) will be around 30mm tall, while a large barrel in the same scale will be approximately 68mm tall.
The figure corresponds to a specific scale measurement; for example, a 6-foot man will be accurately represented at the appropriate scale. Expect slight variations across different figures, which add unique character to your model.
We proudly offer over 2,000 items for your modelling needs.
model boat, car, or aircraft, including crew figures, animals, scale details, and various fittings across all scales.
All items are made from yellow/beige resin and are fully cured before shipping. To achieve the best results, wash the figures with warm water prior to painting.
As the scale can vary, we encourage you to measure the desired height of the figure. You can use the height of a door or window as a reference. Measure the height of the door or window and compare it to the scale measurement provided for the figure.
