Jaws Orca Crew Scale Model Figure Concepts – Quint, Brody & Hooper

The latest Jager Hobby concept figure project heads aboard the Orca, with a new collection of Jaws-inspired scale model figure concepts based around the film's unforgettable crew: Quint, Chief Martin Brody and Matt Hooper.

These new character studies explore both relaxed poses and working poses, with the aim of creating figures that don't simply resemble the characters but capture their personalities, movement and the atmosphere of life aboard the Orca.

Researching the Jaws Movie and Orca Crew

Research for these concepts has included repeatedly studying the original Jaws movie, production and publicity photographs, costume references and individual film stills.

I'm not only looking for facial likenesses. I'm studying how each character stands, walks and works; where they place their hands; how they distribute their weight; how their clothing folds and moves; and how they react to the other people around them.

The publicity photographs are particularly useful for identifying costume and character details that may only appear briefly on screen, while movie stills provide valuable references for natural poses, expressions and interactions aboard the Orca.

All of this research is then brought together when developing each figure.

Capturing a Snapshot of a Moment

One of my main aims with Jager Hobby figures is to create a snapshot of a moment in miniature.

Rather than having every figure standing perfectly upright and obviously posing, I want them to appear as though we've interrupted something that was already happening.

A character might be checking something in his hand, leaning back, resting his weight on one leg or simply watching another member of the crew.

The working poses take this further.

These studies explore the physical movement of men working aboard a fishing boat — bending, pulling, hauling and shifting their body weight as they handle equipment.

The idea is that there should be a sense of movement even though the finished scale model figure is completely still.

Quint, Chief Brody and Matt Hooper

The three main characters aboard the Orca provide a particularly interesting challenge because each has such a different personality.

Quint has the confidence and physical manner of an experienced fisherman who has spent much of his life around boats and the sea.

Chief Martin Brody is very different. He's outside his normal environment aboard the Orca, and that uncertainty is an important part of his character.

Matt Hooper brings another personality and physical energy to the group, creating a contrast between the three men that became such an important part of the movie.

I'm trying to capture those differences through posture and body language as much as facial likeness.

Ideally, you should begin to recognise who each figure represents simply from the way the character stands.

Relaxed and Working Orca Crew Figures

Developing both relaxed and working poses should also make these concepts much more useful for future Jaws dioramas and Orca scale model displays.

The quieter poses could represent the crew during the earlier stages of the voyage, while the working figures can help create more active scenes aboard the boat.

Placed together, the intention is for the figures to look like a genuine crew interacting within the same environment rather than three separate miniatures positioned next to one another.

For me, that's where scale figures really begin to tell a story.

You aren't simply looking at a model of a person.

You're looking at one frozen second from a much bigger scene.

That's exactly what I'm trying to achieve with these new Jaws-inspired concepts — character, movement, atmosphere and storytelling captured in miniature.

Concept Artwork – Work in Development

These Jaws Orca crew figure sketches dated 13 August 2026 are currently concept artwork only and form part of the ongoing Jager Hobby development process.

They are early studies for potential future scale model figures. Poses, facial details, clothing, equipment and other elements may change considerably as the designs progress towards digital sculpting.

No physical figures are currently being offered as part of this concept announcement.
